There are over 10,000 birds in the world and I want to see and photograph them all. It is the very definition of an impossible task. Too little time and too many birds. I need to post a picture on a daily basis to finish before I am 70. Lets see where we get to...

197 : Flappet Lark
Flappet Lark - Mirafra rufocinnamomea
I am not so sure of the identification but the range is right for Flappet Lark and everything I have read talks about the rufous tones in the plumage. There is penty of rufous in this bird, the bill and leg colouring is right. Legs would be pinker on the likely Pippet species whereas these are a colder grey.
I have to be a jury of 1 and Flappet Lark was mentioned by my driver but I lost track on some picture. This was taken on an early dewy morning - I think the bird is ringing itself out after a rain storm. A single bush in the vast grassland being prime territory for displaying.
