129 : Common Tailorbird

Common Tailorbird - Orthotomus sutorious

Tailorbirds are part of the Old World Warbler family or Sylvidiae - a group of 279 species that inhabit bushes, trees and reedbeds catching mostly insects. The family includes chiffchaffs, reed warblers and so on. Mostly brown, olive, grey and green birds these are difficult to see. This Tailorbird was making a racket but - pitcho pitcho pictcho - it probably took me 10 minutes to locate him and then the same amount of time to get the shot which as you can see was not that good ! Good pictures of warblers are hard to get.

I think this probably a male as duing the breeding season the two central tail feathers grow longer and pronounced.
